Manufacturing Manager

Location:  Clinton, Iowa

Compensation:  Commensurate with experience

Overview

Fabricator of foams, molded fiber and specialty materials seeks a Manufacturing Manager for their complex, multi-step manufacturing process within a team oriented, customer-driven organization.

As the Manufacturing Manager, you will plan, coordinate and direct work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with schedule, cost, quality, and quantity specifications to ensure on-time delivery to customers.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising all production personnel and evaluating/rating performance of all direct reports
  • Identifying, securing approval for and hiring qualified personnel for the production department 
  • Providing for professional & skill development as well as cross training of all personnel
  • Establishing an environment conducive to high performance
  • Ensuring communications across all shifts is consistent and complete
  • Managing the systems/procedures needed to effectively perform the production functions
  • Developing, improving, maintaining, and ensuring effective execution of documented procedures needed to manage the shop floor and comply with applicable quality system (ISO9001 & ISO14001)
  • Providing an atmosphere of safe operations and continuous safety improvement
  • Acting promptly to ensure that unsafe acts are discontinued and unsafe conditions are remedied 
  • Ensuring that injuries and accidents are investigated and remedied effective and promptly 
  • Ensuring the shop floor remains clean, well-organized, and uncluttered
  • Providing an atmosphere conducive to ensuring only 100% conforming product are shipped
  • Holding supervisors accountable for their team performing their responsibilities and evaluating part quality in accordance with established control plans, procedures, and routings
  • Providing the leadership necessary for cost effective operations on the plant floor
  • Ensuring production schedules are met so that 100% on time delivery can be cost effectively met
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and taking corrective/improvement action on key departmental measurables (i.e. labor related, material usage, scrap rates, inventory adjustments, department overhead)
  • Managing multiple projects and personnel to plan and execute daily manufacturing schedules and continuous improvement activities. 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in business or engineering
  • 5+ years manufacturing related management experience
  • Strong people management skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and proven use of statistical process control techniques
  • General understanding of employment laws, ADA, worker’s compensation
